Diet & Exercise

Eating right and getting a healthy amount of exercise are important for everyone. Problems with body image and eating disorders are more common among gay men than straight men. Being overweight or obese can lead to health issues including diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. HIV positive members of our community face their own set of nutrition challenges, and sometimes trans folks struggle with weight when transitioning or starting hormone treatment. It's important for us to support each other by encouraging healthy eating and exercise habits and seeking help when we need it.

Make sure you eat right by getting enough fruits and veggies in your diet. Local farmers' markets like the ones listed below offer a wide variety of fresh, affordable produce all year long. Exercising regularly can help you feel good, look good, and meet new people. There are many organized group activities and sports teams in our area that offer free fun and fitness just for our community. Several studies have confirmed that exercise prevents depression and anxiety. Check out the resources below for more info.
